Garrett Popcorn's Buffalo Ranch flavor returns for a limited time February 29


Garrett Popcorn brings back it's limited edition buffalo ranch popcorn beginning Leap Day. (February 29) and will remain through March Madness to April 21.

The special mix is a combination of zesty Buffalo CheeseCorn and buttery ranch flavors. Unlike previous offerings, the flavors can be ordered individually on line. Order.

Inaugural Chicago Irish Whiskey Festival arrives


Longtime bartender Tony Staunton launches the first Chicago Irish Whiskey Festival 8 p.m. March 2 at the Newport Theater, 956 W. Newport. The event includes an interactive reading of The History of Irish Whiskey. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Wildlife Victoria to benefit the animals affected by the recent brush fires. Events at Harrigan's Pub, 2816 N. Halsted, include: Slane Rocks Karaoke, 9 p.m. March 5. The event will feature great music and whiskey. Proceeds benefits the Helen David Relief Fund, which benefits bartenders affected by breast cancer. The venue also hosts Irish Whiskey Session featuring whiskey from all around the Emerald Isle takes placed 2:30-4:30 p.m. March 7. Galway Bay oysters, homemade soda bread, and traditional Irish music are also on the agenda. Tickets.


The Moxy, 530 N. LaSalle, picks up the action hostng "What’s the T-eeling" cocktail competition with local bars creating drinks embodying the Chicago spirit crafted from Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey, 6-9 p.m. March 11. Gusts will sample eight cocktails along with snacks. The judges include: Cristiana DeLucca (The Aviary / Clark Street Ale House), Russell Shearer (Executive Chef Renaissance Hotel), Daniel de Oliveira (Director of Education and Mixology for SGWS Illinois). A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Golden Rule Charity which helps members of the hospitality industry in times of need. Tickets.

Chocolate Sanctuary serves up a seafood entree for its February Chef's Dinner


The Chocolate Sanctuary, 5101 Washington St., Gurnee, features a seafood entree for its February Chef's Dinner, 6-8 p.m. February 26.

The four-course dinner with wine pairing begins with ahi tuna poke (marinated in ginger and sesame oil with macadamia nuts, scallions, sesame seeds and avocado served with house-made wonton chips paired with Jam Cellar Chardonnay. The second course is a scallop on bed of arugula and Swiss chard with warm Dijon lemon butter sauce garnished with lemon wheels paired with Butter Chardonnay. A course featuring grilled swordfish with wild rice and mushroom pilaf, avocado mango relish and grilled tomato coulis paired with Brassfield Sauvignon Bland. The dessert course is chocolate passion verrine featuring Valrhona Itakuja dark chocolate pots de creme; mango glee; fruit caviar; raspberry jam; Valrhona white chocolate cremeux and Valrhona crispy pearls paired with Trentadue Merlot-based Port-style chocolate dessert wine. Onward is Florida bound with specialty menu


Onward, 6580 N. Sheridan, hosts a “Florida Keys Takeover & Fundraiser” February 25 through March 10.

The event will feature beach-like decor during it'd transformation guests will experience a playful atmosphere while indulging in a chef and mixology-driven wonderland featuring Key West inspired food and drink menus. Food items include: Bahamian conch chowder; lobster lasagnette with Old Bay, manila clam, Tabasco foam tarragon and panko (pictured); cheddar bay biscuits; Duval Street  burger (eight-oz patty, glazed pork belly, crispy plantain and grilled pineapple slaw; whole yellow snapper with coconut rice; mango escabeche and crispy shallots along with an extensive raw bar featuring oyster on the half-shell; stone crab claws and peel and eat jumbo shrimp.

A Booze Cruise tiki menu includes: Coastal Ghosts (rum, falernum, orgeat, lemon and passion fruit); Captain Sloppy (vodka, Genepy, lime, pineapple and raspberry) and Sex on the Beach with a twist (vodka, rum, peach, Jumex juicd, cranberry, pineapple, saline water and house bitters). Specialty beer Florida Cracker will also be on the drink menu.

Wrigleyville Mardi Gras Extravaganza takes place noon to 6 p.m. February 22 with the area transforming into a mock Bourbon Street for the day.

Drink specials will be available at each stop with activities such as the crowning of a Kind & Queen of Mardi Gras; a jambalaya contest and live music and performances.
