Joy District's 40-beer 4th of July salute


Joy District, 112 W. Hubbard, open at  noon for a "Forty's on the Fourth" party featuring select 40-ounce beers paired with a whisky shot for $12. Classic American sliders will also be available (three sliders and waffle fries; $15).

In addition, frozen cocktails available on the rooftop area will include: Frozé (rosé, Hangar One rosé vodka, strawberry puree); Casamigos Margarita (rotating flavors) and the Spray Tan (Red Bull Orange, mango puree, Cruzan Strawberry Rum), f$14 each. PHOTO: Matthew Reeves.

Arlington International Racecourse's Country Night and Bacon Beer and Bloody Mary event


Arlington International Racecourse, 2200 Euclid Ave., hosts "Bacon, Beer and Bloodys," an all-inclusive package featuring bacon-infused dishes, Bloody Mary cocktails with all the fixings and beer beginning 1:25 p.m. June 29.  Guests receive a three-hour unlimited seat at the table the beer tasting, three themed Bloody Mary drinks and three tickets for our bacon-infused samples.
In addition live music will take place on the Miller Lite Band Stage. Tickets start at $50

III Forks serves up a special bourbon flight


III Forks Prime Steakhouse, 180 N. Field, beginning July 2, will offer "The Bourbon Test," a flight of three bourbons served in Glencairn whisky glasses. The neat pours will be served on a III Forks branded paddle, made from a Garrison Brothers whiskey barrel stave. Each flight ($20) is presented with tasting notes. 
The trio includes: Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Clermont, KY); Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Hye, TX); and Elijah Craig Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Bardstown, KY).

Le Sud, 2301 W. Roscoe, launched a new happy hour program, available 5-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

The French Mediterranean restaurant's Executive Chef Kevin McMullen will offer a selection of small plates that include: Gruyere gougere (airy French cheese puffs) for $3, bretzel with smoked salt and Mornay: $9 and frites Mornay with fried egg and chives; $9.

Sommelier Terry McNeese will offer summers spritzers; $6.

Replay's SpongeBob pop-up

Replay Lincoln Park, 2833 N. Sheffield, transforms into The Salty Spitoon for a new SpongeBob SquarePants pop-up this summer. 

Beginning June 21 guests can hangout with all of SpongeBob’s underwater pals on Conch St. at Patrick’s Rock, Squidward’s Easter Island Head, SpongeBob’s two-story Pineapple, Mrs. Puff’s Boating School and the Krusty Krab. The pop-up also features unique art installations by local artists.

Enjoy Krabby Patties and specialty cocktails that include: Sandy’s Helmet, which will be served in a fishbowl and the  Chum Bucket, served in a bucket like its namesake. Other festivities include: a Bubble Bowl halftime show concert, a 'how tough are ya' contest, weekly late-night jellyfish raves, karaoke, jellyfish hunting at Jellyfish Fields and an Imagination Box.

Looking to spice up your summer. If so, you don't want to pass on the Second Annual 2019 Chi Town Hot Sauce Expo, June 29-30, SeatGeek Stadium, 7000 S. Harlem Bridgeview. 

More than 40 vendors will be on hand to show off their wares. Activities include sampling more than hot sauces, a eating contest such as the Spicy Taco of Hell and Deep Dish Pizza of Doom challenges, cocktail competition, pepper eating contest and. The Sixth Annual Chicago Food Truck Festival takes place June 22-23 in the South Loop.


More than 45 gourmet food trucks will be on hand offering chef prepared tastings.  Sangria and beers will be available.
