Each "Kitsune" kit serves one person and includes very little preparation. Marvin's TV dinners can make your meal a hit

Marvin's Food & Fuel, 954 W. Fulton, puts nostalgia in the food game with it's signature TV dinners. The venue, which opened last fall in the downturn of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now springing forth and spreading the word that it's here and ready to serve the city's diverse appetites with a seasonal rotation of chef-curated TV dinners.

Manned by owner James Geier, the restaurant who entered Chicago food scene in a very low key manner is ready to heat up winter meals with savory TV dinner options that are ready to eat or freezable. The dinners, hand-crafted by chef Mitch Cavanah are $15 each.

The menu, which will rotate seasonally, currently includes: lasagna with ricotta and beef Bolognese, roasted cauliflower with pine nut gremolata and berry crumble; BBQ turkey meatloaf with whipped potatoes and Parmesan and chocolate chip bread pudding; and a smoked mushroom enchilada with black beans and Mexican chocolate cake.  A bottle of wine or cocktail can be added to the order as well. Items are available for pickup or delivery (some restrictions might apply). Place orders here. 

in addition Marvin's offers dining on its heated pergolas that are semi-permanent, enclosed wooden structures. A seasonal menu includes: pastrami platter (house-smoked beef pastrami, sauerkraut, mustard trio, rye toast); potato latke tots (smoked salmon dip, pickled vegetables), signature double smashed cheeseburger and a vegan pulled mushroom sandwich with Jax’s house-made BBQ sauce, pickled red cabbage, fries.

Mac's Wood Grill Mardi Gras specials and Lenten fish fry

Mac's Whipped Grilled, 1801 W. Division St., include: Wood Grilled Chicken & Andouille Sausage Gumbo with okra, red peppers, celery, onions, rice, cayenne, and gumbo file, served with garlic bread ($8); blackened chicken Po’ Boy with Miller Poultry Amish chicken breast ($14); smoked wood-grilled andouille sausage Po’ Boy ($14); and a fried shrimp Po’ Boy made with buttermilk-marinated cornmeal fried shrimp

Scratchboard Fat Tuesday Paczkis and King cake donuts

Scratchboard Kitchen, 5 Campbell St., Arlington Heights, will open 7:30-11 a.m. February 16 in celebration of Mardi Gras. 

Chef Grace Goudie's themed items include King donuts (cake donuts topped with purple, green and gold sprinkles: $30 per dozen) and Paczkis filled with house-made raspberry hibiscus jam; $40 per dozen.

A combo box of two King donuts and two Paczkis is also available; $12. Orders can be placed for take out and curb side pick up.

Replay's "Schitt" Happens pop-up opens today

Replay, Lincoln Park, 2833 N. Sheffield Ave., newest pop-up installment Schitt's happens, opens February 12.

Based on "Schitt Creek" the pop-up brings familiar "Schitt's" flair and memorable moments to fans in a live and unscripted format. 

Look for a food and cocktail menu from Cafe Tropical;  drop in Rose Apothecary, Moira's Wig Wall and The Rosebud Motel.

Menu items include: Ahn-chiladasLovebird Wings,  Lover’s Messy Sloppy Joe Eat-A-Thon; CafĂ© Tropical Mozzarella Sticks, Rosebud Cinnamon Buns,  and Schitt Fries.

It wouldn't be Fat Tuesday without Jimmy Bannos' annual Mardi Gras celebration and while Heaven on Seven remains close you Jimmy gets the party hopping with a to-go Mardi Gras package for two, with or without his famous Hurricane cocktail

The package features: three quarts of any item on HOS Mardi Gras; mini King cake from Bakery and 32 -oz  of HOS' housemade Hurricane mix (makes four cocktails); $150; $125 without cocktails.
