Joy District and Hubbard Inn co-host Kentucky Derby party

Joy District, 111 W. Hubbard and Hubbard Inn, 112 W. Hubbard partner for a combined Kentucky Derby party kicking off 3 p.m. May 4. Tickets, which start at $10 for early bird to $30 for last call, includes entry to both parties along with drink specials that include $4 Bud Lights and $9 mint juleps and light appetizers. Pilsen's Cantina Crawl

The Sixth Annual Pilsen Cantina Crawl returns noon to 6 pm May 4.

The event, celebrating Cinco de Mayo, also supports year-long fundraising efforts for the community’s annual Pilsen Fest, held in August.

Guests can spend the afternoon exploring the Pilsen neighborhood’s food, drink and music scenes via a stroll down 18th Street or by trolley (complimentary) to 13 participating bar and restaurants offering live musical performances, specialty dishes and hand-crafted cocktails vying for best in the hood honors.  Tickets.

III Forks Prime Steakhouse, 180 N. Field, launched a new round line, "Pleased as Punch," of spring cocktails made with Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum and 1792 Small Batch Bourbon, available through June 30.

Cocktails, served in punch bowl stemware include: Two Barrel Punch (Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum, Remy VSOP Cognac, lemon juice, Peach Reál Puree); Kentucky Punch (1792 Small Batch Bourbon, Lunetta Prosecco, Peach Reál Puree) and Afternoon Delight (1792 Small Batch Bourbon, pineapple juice, Monin Honey Syrup, Q Grapefruit). The cocktails are $12 each.

Colectivo Coffee Roasters, 1211 N. Damen, is set to open April 26. The indoor-outdoor cafe features two stories of indoor-outdoor glass storefront and plant bedecked patio. True to Colectivo’s knack for creative design, The Wicker Park cafe's interior sticks with the traditional rustic-industrial design touches that includes amenities such as a hand-built fireplace, patchwork wood walls and a custom two-story chandelier. The fe, which will serve as the training grounds for new employees, debuts a new lineup of innovative, new vegan and plant-focused items.
Dishes include: sesame sweet potato bowl (Vegan/GF): A satisfyingly crunchy mix of quinoa, kale, brussels sprouts, edamame, pumpkin seeds and sweet golden raisins; cauliflower banh mi (Vegan): A handmade Troubadour French roll stuffed with harissa roasted cauliflower, slaw, and cucumbers, and topped with vegan herb aioli, cilantro, and pickled jalapeño peppers for a little kick!; chia power bowl (breakfast bowl (Vegan): vanilla coconut milk chia pudding, fresh blueberries, vegan granola, and toasted almonds; coconut milk chia pudding breakfast bpwl (Vegan/GF): vanilla coconut milk chia pudding, fresh blueberries, vegan granola, and toasted almonds; bloom latte: Colectivo’s classic latte with fragrant Bloom Chamomile tea; matcha lemon frappe: mixture of earthy ground matcha, velvety white chocolate and sweet lemonade; coconut Anthology Iced Tea: Using a house made sweet anthology black tea concentrate and creamy coconut milk; and sparkling cherry cold brew: One half sparkling water, one half Colectivo Session Cold Brew with dash of cherry syrup.

Chicago Beer Classic 2019 @Soldier Field

The Chicago Beer Classic takes place May 4 at Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus Dr. The event will be held in two sessions 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4 -7:30 p.m. 

More than 150 samples will be available for tasting. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and speak directly with the brewers who make it all happen. 

Activities include: Giant Jenga or bocce. Food trucks will be set up for tailgating before and after the beer bash. Various sponsor booths will be set up for visitors to explore and ask questions.

Guests will also have the option before or after they have attended the festival, to tailgate with some of Chicago’s favorite food trucks, purchase merchandise from Chicago-based vendors, or show off their beer pong skills.

General admission is $59. VIP tickets, which include an extra half hour to try the beers, a reserved VIP guest area and an exclusive stadium tour, with access to the visitors’ locker room, Skyline Suite, the Colonnades, are available. Tickets

Mango Pickle, 5842 N. Broadway, will offer an array of dinner specials Easter Sunday 5-9 p.m. April 21.

Menu items include: feni beef short ribs in with cashew liquor, silced coconut, fava beans and crostini (pictured, $24); roast leg of lamb with black pepper curry, ramps, young chickpeas, and asparagus ($24); sesame grilled pork belly with black sesame paste, shaved radishes and beets ($15). Vegetarian offerings include: bhei puri (butternut squash; apples, chickpeas, cilantro and puffed rice ($10) and cashew and cilantro rice cakes with microgreens and coconut chutney ($8). A seafood option of live East coast scallop-in-the-shell (seared scallops dusted in cocoa, butternut squash puree; malai spices, turnips; $16) or prepared tartar style with tapioca pearls, peanut and cilantro ($16).
