Sepia's St. George Spirits dinner


Chefs Andrew Zimmerman and Adam Zocsak and head bartender Kevin Meicher of Sepia, 123 N. Jefferson, team up with St. George Spirits for a four-course cocktail-paired intimate dinner 5:30 p.m. August 11 to be held in the restaurant's Deardorff lounge: $115.

In addition to Sepia's staff St. George Spirit's master distiller Lance Winters will be on hand to walk guests through the chosen selections along with discussing the company's brand.

Michael Kornick hosts "A Taste of Maine from a Thai Perspective" dinner


Tickets are still available for Michael Kornick's "Taste of Maine from a Thai Perspective" dinner, 7 p.m. July 30-31 at Fish bar, 2956 N. Sheffield; $59

The menu includes: peekytoe crab summer roll with mint and Thai basil; crispy belly clams nuoc cham with tartar sauce; fisherman's smoked cod any mussel coconut milk chowder and desconstructed lobster rolls with Thai spiced sweet corn and potato salad with red curry aioli. Featured dessert will be a choice of blueberry or peach pie with maple sugar crème fraiche. Tickets.

Chiya Chai is now open @Chicago Riverwalk's Michigan Avenue Market


Chiya Chai has joined the select group of vendors at the Chicago Riverwalk's Michigan Avenue Marketplace (on the walk between Wabash and Michigan). The summer set up offers seven chai options including the traditional masala and ginger cardamom along with  creative flavors that include: Mumbai Cutting, mango coconut and blueberry lavender; $4.50 (12-oz); $4.75 16-oz). Beverages are available hot or iced with the milk options of whole or almond for an additional $0.50. 

The menu will also offers select coffee, tea and lemonade selections as well as Indian-inspired mango and strawberry lassi;  $4.50 (12-oz); $4.95 16-oz). 

Food items such as, samosas ($6); masala chicken savory pie ($9); creamy masala chicken bowl ($12); and a cauliflower, peas and  potatoes bowl ($12), will also be featured.



Hours of operation are: open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Fulton Galley launches guest chef series


Fulton Galley, 115 W. Fulton Market, kicks-off its intimate new dinner series "Meet the Chef," 7 p.m. August 7with guest chefs Gerad Gobel and Alexiz Rorabaugh of Italientta; $45.

The duo will offer classic summer dishes from the Italian Riviera. Courses will highlight Ligurian seafood that includes octopus and Genovase pesto potato salad and spaghetti alle Vongole. Tickets.

The Chocolate Sanctuary serves up a chef-driven burger


The Chocolate Sanctuary, 5101 Washington St., Gurnee, hosts special chef burger dinner, 6-8 p.m. July 31.

The four-course meal is built around a specialty gourmet sliders that include a second course of lamb slider with pickled red onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce on pita bread served with sweet potato fries paired with a mint julep) and the beyond slider with avocado foam, lettuce and tomato on a brioche roll paired with Krombacher.

The third course features a pastrami slider with crispy fried onions, whole grain mustard on rye roll paired with Trapiche Oak Cask red blend) and New York strip slider with fried quail egg, mole mayo on a pretzel roll paired with chocolate amaretto stone sour.

Also on the menu is a starter salad. Dessert is a frozen truffle martini with Godiva chocolate liqueur, Bailey's, creme de cacao, vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Weber's third grilling academy is open for business


Weber Grill, 2331 Fountain Square, Lombard, is home to the operation's third Weber Grill Academy (the others are located in Schaumburg and St. Louis, MO). 

The newly unveiled cooking facility features: Beyond Land & Sea: Innovative Surf and Turf, 6-8 p.m. July 27; $85. Register.

Sous chef Brandon Kramer oversees the operation, which accommodates 20 to 30 students, offering tips and techniques for grilling and smoking perfect meals. Multiple classes will be held per month with students learning to grill on  various Weber grills that include: Summit, Genesis and Spirit series as well as its popular kettle grills for a thorough experience on both gas and charcoal grills. Featured classes will include: hands-on; demonstration only and interactive sessions.

The academy will also accommodate private parties and offer corporate team building events such as burger battles.

Upcoming classes include Steaks, Backyard Favorites, a Tailgating Grill Class, Oktoberfest Grilling and even a kid-friendly hands-on Halloween grilling class. The regular season runs March-November (weather permitting). New GM at MJ's Steakhouse and Eno Wine Room

Rebecca Muraski has been appointed general manager of Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse and ENO Wine Room, 505 N. Michigan Ave., at the InterContinental Hotel.

Muraski, who brings an extensive background in luxury restaurant management to the table, will be in charge of front-of-house and back-of-house operations, which includes hiring and training staff, strategizing and implementing in-house promotions and events

The new Gm will also collaborate on menu development for both restaurants. Muraski previously worked as General Manager of Sol Toro Restaurant in Connecticut, General Manager of Chicago Firehouse Restaurant and Dining Room Manager of Chicago Cut Steakhouse.

Connie's Pizza Name our IPA Beer Contest


Connie's Pizza, 2373 S. Archer Ave., is holding a "Name Our IPA Beer" contest.

Patrons are asked to come in and taste the beer and give it a name. Grand Prize is a helicopter sightseeing ride over Chicagoland, courtesy of Chicago Helicopter Express.
