The Third Annual Autism-friendly  dinner takes place 4 p.m. December 15, The Kennison, 1800 N. Lincoln Ave. 

Located across the street from Lincoln Park Zoo, guests who come in with a ticket for the Zoo Lights event at LPZ will receive a 10 percent discount. An adult and children's menu will be available. See menu information below.

Tickets for the dinner are $40 for adults and includes (a copy of the book I Like Dinosaurs, Too! or What About Me? A Book by and for an Autism Sibling. Both books are written by Mandy Farmer and illustrated by The Kennison's beverage director, Emily Neff). In addition $10 from every ticket sold benefits Autism Speaks

Cultivate by Forbidden Root's second area location, 4710 N. Ravenswood Ave., opens November 27 with Chef Carlos Cruz at the helm. 

In addition to seasonal fare the eatery, under the Forbidden Root Brewery umbrella, will feature the operations popular that include: the Forbidden Root burger; duck & dumplings duo and the cheddar & crackers, along with a host of seasonal items.

Opening week hours are 4-7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday; closed Monday-Tuesday and 3-10 p.m. Thursday-Friday.

Buffalo Creek Brewing's seasonal attraction—Alpine Opening Fest kicks off the seasonal run for the brewery's Alpine Biergarten and Lodge November 26. After a successful inaugural run last year, the brewery will again transform its grounds to a picturesque setting for winter guests offering a rustic scene with holiday decor against a pine forest backdrop

The biergarten's decor includes fire pits, patio and barrel table heat lamps and holiday decor. While additional clothing and throws will be available to keep guests warm and cozy.

The Rambler's "Misfit Christmas" pop-up opens November 26

The Rambler Kitchen+Tap, 4128 N. Lincoln Ave., in a tribute to the1964 animated holiday television classic, "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer," will host a “Misfit Christmas” pop-up beginning November 26.

Owner Kyle Bagley said “The idea for our Misfit Christmas pop-up came about because they thought it would be fun to get together with our band of misfits to celebrate the holidays recalling old memories and honoring a classic from our childhoods.”

Inside each room will be inspired by a different scene from the classic holiday tale with Misfit toy figurines about and staff dressed as characters throughout. 

Savory dishes include: Toy Taker Turkey Sandwich (roasted turkey breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and a side of cranberry sauce) and open-faced chicken pot pie served on two buttermilk biscuits.

For the sweet tooth crowd there's: Snickerdoodle pretzels topped with cinnamon sugar served with icing, reindeer food (rice cereal, chocolate, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and red and green M&M’s) and Sam the Snowman shaped powdered sugar donuts.

Drink inspired cocktails ($10-$14) include: Yukon’s Old Fashioned (Old Forester Bourbon, Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey crème de cacao, and chocolate bitters topped with a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup); Silver and Gold (NOLET’S Silver Gin, Mionetto Prosecco and white cranberry juice with a cranberry and rosemary garnish); Yule Mule (Jack Daniels Tennessee Apple, Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire, ginger beer, cranberry juice, lime juice and cranberries); Bumble-tini (Black Irish White Chocolate Irish Cream, Bushmills Irish Whiskey, crème de cacao white, and a blue sugar rim).

Hot drinks such as Hermey’s Hot Chocolate and an Old Country Toddy will also be available

Peninsula Chicago's holiday afternoon tea

The Lobby at The Peninsula Chicago's, 108 E. Superior, the Festive Afternoon Tea beneath the 20-foot Christmas tree has become a holiday tradition for many families. 


The menu features a traditional English tea menu that includes: a variety of finger sandwiches: smoked salmon, organic egg salad, classic English cucumber, and cranberry chicken salad sandwich; fruit and plain scones with house made preserves, Devonshire clotted cream. 


Petite seasonal pastries with choux, chocolate, and winter fruit creations are also a part of the scrumptious holiday tea. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. 


Festive Afternoon Tea will be offered daily November 26 through January 9, 2022. Seatings are at: 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.


Monday through Thursday, $125 (includes a glass of Champagne) adults; $135 for adults Friday through Sunday, including a glass of Champagne. the cost of children is $55. Tax and gratuity is not included in prices.

Hanukkah themed event pops up at The Graystone Tavern, November 19

The Graystone Tavern's, 3441 N. Sheffield Ave., popular hanukkah "8 Crazy Nights," popup returns beginning November 19. 

During the event guests will be feted with a special food menu and themed drinks in a festive holiday setting that includes: blue and white lights and Hanukkah ball lanterns along with Star of David and dreidel ornaments a lit menorah and more including a wall of Hanukkah sweaters.

Food favorites include: matzo ball soup; three varieties of latkes (classic; cilantro jalapeno with chipotle sour cream and herb cheddar with chive sour cream); brisket egg rolls; brisket sandwich and brisket platter. dessert—boozy jelly donuts with vodka-infused jelly. 

Specialty themed drinks include: Festival of Lights martini (RumChata, Bushmills Red Bush Irish Whiskey; creme de cacao white; caramel swirl and a gold sugar rim); Gelt martini (Schmerling's chocolate liqueur; 28 Mile vodka from local manufacturer); Tippy Cow chocolate shake (sugar rim and Gelt coin); Mazel Tov (Nolet's Silver Gin; Mionetto Prosecco; blueberry; rosemary simple syrup and lemon syrup).

New drink offerings this year include the Blue Toddy ((Wild Hibiscus Blue Tea, Bushmills Red Bush Irish Whiskey, honey, lemon) and Hanukkah Harry's hot chocolate (Maker’s Mark, Bourbon, Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream, hot chocolate, whipped cream, gold sugar, served in a gold mug), $12 each. 

Empirical Brewery's Circumsessionable Lager ($7), exclusive for the event will on tap as well.

Events and entertainment includes: board and card games; Connect 4 with Hanukkah gelt, Cards Against Humanity Jew expansion pack, Mitzvah Match, Jewish Guess Who, Dreidel, Apples to Apples Jewish edition and Schmear Build-A-Bagel card game. The popup remains through January 2.
