More than 40 food trucks tip off in a friendly whose the best competition during the 4th Annual Truck Off: Food Truck Fest, 5 p.m. September 11 at the McHenry County Fairgrounds, 12015 Country Club Rd., Woodstock.

Executive Chef Michael Woodhall will prepare hors d'oeuvres to accompany the wine selections. 

Ticket holders, can bring one guests at no charge. Ticket holders only will receive three complimentary bottles of wine to take home.

Rewired pet-themed trivia event benefitting Tree House Humane Society, Aug. 30

Rewired Pizza Cafe & Bar, 1000 W. Thorndale Ave., has partnered with Empirical Brewery to host a pet-themed trivia night and fundraiser to benefit Tree House Humane Society, 7 p.m. August 30.

Empirical will pours it on with pet-inspired brews that include: Nine Lives Dry Hopped pilsner; $6.50 (pint) and the Lulu Lager.

Trivia rounds will be hosted by Stewpendous Productions. Trivia winners will be awarded gift cards. Leashed pets will be welcome on the patio.

Noodles & Company, 15 Danada Square East, Wheaton, opens Wednesday and as a way to give back to the community the operation will donate 50 per cent of its opening day sales (in restaurant, online and via the Noodles rewards App) to St. Michael School.

 

Popular dishes on the menu include: Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, Penne Rosa, and the all-new Cauliflower Gnocchi, and can customize the dish using fresh high-quality ingredients.

Air and Water show dining cruises set sail, Aug. 20 (preview/practice); August 21-22

City Cruises Chicago is offering six dining cruises during the Air and Water show beginning with the preview show August 20 and the August 21-22 shows, which will feature the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

The cruise will feature a three-course meal, DJ and other entertainment including on deck games. During the show guests can watch the airborne maneuvers atop the rooftop deck.
