Rooh now offering Sunday brunch menu


Rooh, 736 W. Randolph, is now serving a Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Executive Chef Sujan Sarkar (pictured) and Chef de Cuisine Sahil Sethi, have created an imaginative dining experience along with a creative cocktail menu.

The new lineup, which ranges from sweet to savor items, includes: a lamb Chapli burger served on a brioche bun (laccha onion, pickle served with ROOH masala fries) and prawn pepper fry Benedict served on brioche with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.

Traditional brunch items include: buttermilk pancakes served with salted jaggery ice cream for those with a serious sweet tooth; an Eggs Our Way section features the Ross Masala Omelette with tomato, onion, chili, and cilantro; a vegan omelette served with a graham flour pancake, cottage cheese, cilantro, and ginger alam; a vegetarian version of scrambled eggs, the Paneer Bhurji served with ricotta cheese, green peas, and cilantro; and lamb keema served with a fried egg and crispy potatoes.

Nordstrom at the Shops of North Bridge hosts a breakfast with Santa


Nordstrom at the Shops at North Bridge, 55 E Grand,  (also a Michigan Ave.), as part of its nationwide seasonal giving campaign to raise over $1M for its charitable hosts a breakfast with Santa  9 a.m. December 7 benefitting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals®

In addition to breakfast attendees can mingle with Santa along with participating in festivities that include:  arts and crafts, photo opps, face painting, cookie decorating, and more. 

Nordstrom will donate 100% of the ticket sales—up to $25,000—to children's hospitals in the community of purchase to support uncompensated care for local families in the most difficult of circumstances. MJ's Steak House's "Space Jam" special


Michael Jordan’s Steak House, located in the InterContinental Hotel, 505 N. Michigan, is featuring a "Space Jam" inspired meal deal during the NBA season. 
The special, Space Jam burger (10-ounce beef burger, stacked with BBQ braised pork belly, pickled onions, dill pickle, stout mustard, butterkรคse and aged cheddar cheese) served with hand-cut fries and the Mike Secret Stuff shake (salted caramel milkshake); $27, is a slam-dunk deal.
The Space Jam meal, for guests who want to eat like Mike, will be available in the restaurant's bar area during Chicago Bulls home games only through April 13, 2020, with the exception of the 2020 NBA All-star (February 16, 2020) game being played at the United Center.

SafeHouse Chicago's late-night Black Wednesday party is a go


SafeHouse Chicago, 60 E. Ontario, partners with The Chicago Lighthouse for Operation Black Wednesday, the venue's annual late-night party beginning 10 p.m. November 27.

Specials during the free (cash bar) event includes $4 domestic beers; $5 well drinks; $6 select wines and half-priced specialty cocktails. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the event will benefit The Chicago Lighthouse's services for the blind, visually impaired and Veterans.

Heaven on Seven's seasonal holiday cooking class/dinner


Chef Jimmy Bannos of Heaven on Seven, 111 N. Wabash, puts a Cajun twist on seasonal dishes during his five-course Cajun cooking demo/dinner 6-9 p.m. December 4: $75, wine, beer or Hurricane and recipes included.

Kinton Ramen in Wicker Park now open


Kinton Ramen, has opened its second U.S. location in Wicker Park at 1426 N. Milwaukee.  
The ramen house offers five pork and chicken options that include: original, shoyu, miso, spicy Garlic and spicy jalapeno and include accompanying slices of pork belly that are torched for added caramelization and flavor or juicy chicken breast slices. 

Several shareable plates also available including Kimuchi, Takowasabi, Salmon Tataki, Ton Ton Don, Edamame, Ikapiri and the restaurant’s famous original and spicy Karaage. The restaurant's dining room features seats 54 along with room for 11 at open-kitchen bar.

Elf'd up takes over Stretch Bar & Grill for second holiday season


Elf'd Up is now open at Stretch Bar, & Grill 3484 N. Clark. The "Elf," move-themed pop up features all things Elf with more than 1000 elves of all shapes and sizes adorning the area from floor to ceiling.

The Buddy's Brunch offered 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning November 23.

Themed food menu ($5-$19) include items such as the Buddy burger served on a toasted green bun; Papa Elf’s three-cheese homemade mac and the “Francisco” grilled cheese and soup combo as well as the Buddy’s Breakfast Pasta with spaghetti, maple syrup, chocolate fudge, chocolate syrup, mini marshmallows, and strawberry frosted Pop Tarts.

Guests can also imbibe in themed cocktails such as: Yule Mule (Fireball, Dr. McGillicuddy's Apple Pie liqueur, lime juice, ginger beer, splash of cranberry and orange juice); Ninny Muggins (Chila ‘Orchata and Fireball, topped with whipped cream and Cinnamon Toast Crunch), Naughty or Spice (Monrosso Tuscan Red Blend, Buffalo Trace Bourbon, apple cider, orange juice, cinnamon, brown sugar, cloves), Elfie (Corazon Tequila, strawberry puree, sage simple syrup, lime juice, Gran Gala and Mionetto Rosรฉ), $12 each. In addition a giant Elf boot featuring 36-oz. rotating seasonal drafts, ranging in price from $10 to $18, will be available. 

Also, guests visiting the Christkindlemarket can bring in their mug through December 24 for half-off their first glass of wine or beer.

Time Out Food Market opens today


Time Out media operation's is set to open Time Out Chicago Market,  916 W. Fulton Market 8 a.m.  November 21. The culinary emporium will feature 18 restaurants and three bars along with live music.

Chef-driven food stops include: Abe Conlon (Fat Rice); John Manion (El Che Steakhouse & Bar); Kevin Hickey (Duck Inn): Brian Fisher (Entente); Thai Dang (HalSous); Bill Kim (Urbanbelly).

Other food venues include: Lost Larson: FARE, Funkenhausen: Dos Urban Cantina; Mini Mott, The Purple Pig; Art of Pizza; Split Rail; Sugar Cube; Tortello; Band of Bohemia and Pretty Cool Ice Cream.

During the event Paul McGee and Shelby Allison debut their new Secret Sound cocktail concept. Additional happenings include food events curated by chef Erick Williams owner of Virtue located in in Hyde Park.

Hours of operation are: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Chef Cleetus Friedman hosts "Food, Booze & Tunes," a weekly Wednesday Q&A segment spotlighting some of the city's top culinary talents who share their favorite music while guest nosh on some of the headliners favorite food and beverage. The event takes place at Cubby Bear, 1059 W. Addison.

The show kicks off with James Beard Award-winner Rick Bayless  (pictured) of Frontera Grill; Lena Brava; Tortas Frontera; Topolobampo and Tortas Frontera by Rick Bayless at O'Hare Airport, kicks off the series November 20. Details.

Sketchbook anniversary week events


Sketchbook Brewing, 821 Chicago Ave. Evanston, launches five specialty items for its anniversary on November 19.

Anniversary week launches include three new versions of its barrel aged, releasing November 19. Turbulence. The stouts, available only in Sketchbook's taproom are:  Turbulence Imperial Stour; Vanilla Bean Turbulence and Coconut Habanero Turbulence.

On November 21 the brewer launches Hop Void Double IPA brewed with Syrian Dragon hops on draft and in cans (pictured).

Sketchbook mixes Morsels Patisserie pop-up and flight pairing of four pastries and four brews on November 23.

Nando's Peri-Peri Nando giving out free tickets online for its Taste of South Africa party


Nando’s Peri-Peri celebrates its roots with a South African party Chicago-style, for the opening of its new location at 1500 N. Clybourn location beginning 7 p.m. November 21.

Guests will be feted with sampling Nando's Peri-Peri chicken, sides and other bar food as well as South African wines and biltong (spicy beef jerky) from Ayoba-Yo. DJ Dee Money spins beats. A photo booth will also be available

Tzuco launches Friday-Sunday brunch menu today


Tzuco, 720 N. State, Chef Carlos Gaytan's newly opened Mexican-French eatery launches a new brunch program beginning 10 a.m. November 15.

The menu includes items such as:  Cazuela Libanesa (fried eggs, potatoes, merguez sausage, jocoque, tomato fondue, flat bread and za’atar) Pan de Muerto French Toast with signature house-made Pan de Muerto (seasonal fruit, orange blossom foam, lime orange zest, whipped cream and chocolate).




In addition guests can expect recipes from Chef Gaytรกn’s hometown of Huitzuco, Mexico, such as Tacos de Pescado served with Masa azul tortillas, pan seared red snapper fillet, saffron rouille, greens and avocado; and Torta de Chilaquiles with Telera, black beans, chilaquiles, guajillo pork, avocado, eggs, sour cream and Tzuco cheese.

Replay's three new theme: Rick and Morty; NAMCO and children television icon "Mr. Rogers"


Replay Lincoln Park, 2833 N. Sheffield, is hosting simultaneous pop-ups now through the end of November. The series includes: animated science sitcom "Rick and Morty." opened though December 1ember 24); iconic developer and video game publisher, NAMCO (opens November 14) and children’s television series and soon-to-be-released feature film, "Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood," opened through November 30.

Each theme features custom artwork and multiple one-of-a-kind photo opportunities such as spaceships galore, Pac-Man, Mr. Rogers’ iconic bench and the neighborhood puppets, designed by local artists. More details.

Bar Roma's Cinema Italiano Tuesdays


Chef Fred Ramos of Bar Roma's, 5101 N. Clark, has curated Roman-inspired cuisine for the fall menu to accommodate guests for the restaurant's "Cinema Italiano," which takes place 6:30 p.m. every other Tuesday in the lounge area of the Andersonville restaurant. 

Menu items include: Jewish-style fried baby artichokes; wood-grilled Spanish octopus and shrimp spiedini), specialty meatballs (ground beef and braised beef cheeks; spicy pork belly; chicken with pistachio and caramelized onions), house made pastas.
