National Food Day

National Food Day is October 24 and the city salutes the day with a celebration at Two North Riverside Plaza that includes cooking demos by chefs Paul Kahan and Jason Hammel, lunch offerings from Big Star and a poetry slam by Chicago Public School students. 2014 Chicago Hall of Fame Chef Inductees

Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaimed Oct. 8, 2014 Lawrence F. Levy Day in honor of the restaurateur's induction into the Chicago Culinary Museum's Chefs Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the food and hospitality industry. Fellow 2014 inductees are: Gale Gand, Pastry Chef of the Year; Stephanie Izard, Chef of the Year; Chef Michael Kornick, Legendary Chef and Phil Stefani, Industry Leader.
