Bistronomic and George Trois cook up a unique experience

Martial and Lulu Noguier of Bistronomic, 840 N. Wabash Ave. and Chef Michael Lachowicz of George Trois, 64 Green Bay Rd., Winnetka, partner for a unique dining collaboration, bringing a series of two special dinners to the table December 4-5; and December 11-12.

Each dinner is a three-course family style menu for two. The December 11-12 dinners will feature holiday-inspired dishes.

THE CHEF’S SIGNATURE DISHES MENU ($120 ) includes:

BISTRONOMIC: Duo of House Made Country Pate & Chicken Liver Mousse, Apple Spice Puree, Apple Salad, Honey Truffle Country Mustard, Cornichons, Baguette Croutons.

GEORGE TROIS: Filet of Beef Tenderloin & Truffle-Veal Mousse en Croute with Périgord Sauce, Gratin Dauphinois and Roasted Baby Carrots Aux Fines Herbes
 
BISTRONOMIC: Chocolate Hazelnut Bars, Feuilletine, Praline, Orange Grand Marnier Sauce
 
HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS ($100 ): 

GEORGE TROIS: Duo of Foie Gras Medallion & Strudel of Wild Mushrooms, Duck Confit and Foie Gras with Candied Fig Gastrique.

BISTRONOMIC: Braised 6 Hours Short Ribs, French Lentils, Winter Squash, Root Vegetable, Country Mustard, Cabernet Sauvignon Reduction

GEORGE TROIS: Fallen Chocolate Souffle with Salted Caramel Creme Anglaise (Bake at home, instructions included)

Replay Arcade Bar takes the spirit of Christmas to the streets with two special outdoor holiday pop-up experiences

Replay Lincoln Park, takes the fun outdoors for its festive holiday movie experience pop ups, "Miracle on West Madison," at 6345 W. Madison and "Holly Jolly Drive-in," near the venue's 2833 N. Sheffield location, beginning November 27.

One venue, two holiday family-friendly holiday movie pop up experiences to help holiday goers get into the mood of the season, which given the times we all can use a boost of uplifted spirits. Don't be surprised if you spot special guests such as Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch and live reindeer during the one-of-a-kind holiday event. Tickets.

Bookings for The Miracle on West Madison are available 5-10 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.  Reservations required. Holly Jolly Drive-in experience will be out doors near Replay's Lincoln Park location. Hours are 6:30-9:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Tickets.

Movies are 90 minutes and open to all ages. Venues will be open through Christmas Day. Reservations are required for both locations. Tickets are $75 per car at both locations.

The Graystone Tavern's 8 Crazy Nights pop-up has returned

The Graystone Tavern's, 3441 N. Sheffield Ave., “8 Crazy Nights,” Hanukkah-themed pop-up bar, has returned for the holidays. Following the newest COVID-19 restrictions and ban on indoor gatherings the pop up will be on the tavern's enclosed waterproof patio. 

Traditional holiday food includes: matzo ball soup ($5); latkes with applesauce and sour cream ($8); challah grilled cheese with tomato soup ($10); brisket platter with potatoes, carrots and onion ($16); sweet noodle kugel (egg noodles with apples, cinnamon, cream cheese and sugar; $6) and boozy jelly donuts (house-made vodka infused jell donut with powdered sugar; $5 for 1; $8, for two).

Specialty drinks such as Mensch Mule (Wheatley vodka, strawberry puree; lime juice; lemon-lime soda and ginger beer; $12); Festival of Lights (Mozart white chocolate vanilla cream liqueur, Wheatley vodka; Creme de cacao adorned with a gold sugar rim; $12) and Sufganiyah shot (Pinnacle cake vodka; Fragola wild strawberry liqueur with powdered sugar rim; $8) will be available. The pop-up bar will be around to January 3.

Another round of do-it-yourself holiday drinks

William Grant & Sons designs the perfect holiday-inspired easy-to-make cocktails using only three ingredients. 

The Malt Julip

Created by Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador Allan Roth

Ingredients:

2 parts Glenfiddich 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve

bruised mint leaves

simple syrup

Method: Build with crushed ice and garnish with mint sprigs in a traditional Julep cup


Irish Gold Rush 

Created by Donna Stewart, Brand Ambassador for Tullamore D.E.W.

Ingredients:

2 parts Tullamore D.E.W. Original

.75 parts Fresh Lemon Juice

.75 parts Honey Syrup

lemon Twist

Method: Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake until well chilled, about 10 seconds. Strain into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass, garnish with a lemon twist.


FISTFUL OLD FASHIONED

2-oz (parts) Fistful of Bourbon

½-oz (parts) simple syrup

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Combine ingredients and stir over ice

Strain over a large ice cube in a rocks glass

Garnish with a large grapefruit peel (optional)


Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Highball

1 part Balvenie 12 year DoubleWood

2 parts club soda

lemon wedge garnish

Fill glass with ice, add Balvenie and top with soda. Garnish with lemon wedge!

Oakton College's annual hunger awareness fundraiser underway

Oakton Colleges, long-running fundraiser "Empty Bowls," raising awareness of local and worldwide hunger, will not take place as an in-person event this year. However, donations, big and small, are being accepted.

Le Sud heated domes for outdoor dining

Le Sud Mediterranean Kitchen, 2301 W. Roscoe, is featuring heated dining domes on its sidewalk cafe. Each private pod (five are available), which seats up to six people. Domes  each, features an electric stove heating unit, chic farmhouse decor and decorative lighting. The "glamping" dining pods are designed to provide a cozy safe zone while outdoor dining (weather permitting).

Dining domes require a $200 minimum tab on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and a $250 minimum tab on Friday and Saturday. A $25 per person reservation deposit (fully refundable if canceled 48 hours prior) is required.

M&M Limousine Service's Milwaukee brewery tours

M&M Limousine Service has mapped out a two brewery tour that includes a trip to Milwaukee Brewing Co. voted Best Craft Brewery in 2019 by OnMilwaukee.
