WhirlyBall's fall beer flight surprise and Lynn Sage Foundation support


WhirlyBall, 1825 W. Webster, kicks off "Bowl for Breast Cancer Awareness," campaign in support of the Lynn Sage Foundation beginning October 1. For every pink bowling pin knocked down the venue will make a donation to Lynn Sage Foundation's "In Good Taste Campaign."

While bowling guests can get creative during the venue's "Beauty is in the eye of the Beerholder," custom fall beer flights, by designing their own flight of four 5-oz beer selections for $5. The flights and donations in support of the Lynn Sage Foundation organization continue through October 31.

Art Room Events hosts two events October 3 at 355 Chicago Riverwalk at Michigan and Ave. and Columbus Dr. The group presents "Craft Tiki Cocktail Tasting," an outdoor mixology class 4 p.m. October 3. Tickets

The tasting is followed by the Tiki Chicago River Cruise," 7:30 p.m. October 3 at 355 Chicago Riverwalk. Arrive 20-30 minutes early for check in. Tickets.

Big Timber Pumpkin Fest October 9-10


Big Timber Pumpkin Fest is October 9-10 at Big Timber Lodge, 37W955 Big Timber Rd., Elgin. 

A bourbon tasting is among the festivities of the day. The Barrels and Bones event features bourbon barrel aged beer and meaty grub.

Marcus Samuelsson hosts virtual broadcast of WCYN's 6th Annual Taste of Fame fundraiser, tickets on sale now


Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, co-owner of Red Rooster in Harlem, hosts the 6th Annual Taste of Fame Culinary Fundraiser, 6:30 p.m. (ET); 5:30 p.m. (CT); 3:30 p.m. (PT) October 16 via zoom.

The featured menu is: Southern greens salad with a sorghum spiked apple vinaigrette dressing and pecans; curry with yams and Swiss chard with choice of chicken, shrimp or tofu and a red velvet cookies for dessert. 

The event kicks off with a 30-minute cocktail session followed by a question and answer session with the chef. Several packages available for order including the basket Dinner package includes: one ticket and four servings (

Uvae's upcoming September wine events


Uvae Kitchen and Wine Bar, 5553 N. Clark, wine tasting schedule includes Wines of South Africa, 3 p.m.September19 and Wines of Australia 5 p.m. September 23.


The event includes 4-four ounce pour; $30. Additional events are Wines of Bordeaux, 3 p.m. September 26 and Wines of Canada and Finger Lakes, 5 p.m. September 30.

Hofbrauhaus kicks off its Oktoberfest celebration today


Hofbrauhaus Chicago, 5500 Park Place, Rosemont, kicks off its Oktoberfest celebration 5 p.m. September 18. Guests must reserve seats during the more than month-long event, which runs through October 31. Masks are required.

The Food Network, Cooking Channel and South Beach Wine and Food Festival partner for "All About Agave: Tequila vs. Mezcal Cocktails, conducted by mixologist Jules Gomez of Zuma Miami.
