Avli Taverna and Avli River North Super Bowl catering


 Avli Taverna, 1335 W. Wrightwood  and Avli River North, 702 N. Wells, are offering a catering service, featuring an  array of items, for Super Bowl parties. 

Items include: Greek salad with cucumbers, olives, tomatoes, onions and feta (serves 8-10/$45); spicy feta spread served with pita (serves 10-12/$25; add Greek fries for $30); mini mix-n-match pita sandwiches with pita, tomatoes, onion, tzatziki sauce and choice of pork, lamb or chicken (serves 8-10/$65); and 20 mini pork skewers (serves 8-10/$70). Orders can also be placed for a leg of lamb and oven-roasted potatoes; $150.

Milwaukee's Turkitch Turkish has opened three Chicago locations


I'm a little late on this one folks but still spreading the word Turkitch Turkish Kitchen recently  opened three Chicago locations. It's flagship operation Lakeview location, 565 W. Diversey and locations in the Chicago French Market, 131 N. Clinton and Raffello Hotel, 201 E. Delaware.

Owners and operators Ozkan Yilmaz and his wife Feyzan was moved to open their first restaurant in Milwaukee in 2015 arriving from Instanbul. Praise from neighbors and friends was their inspiration.

The Chocolate Sanctuary, 5101 Washington St., Gurnee, weekend specials (available through january 19) include: sauteed scallops with bacon jam, garnished with pickled mustard seeds ($13); hangar steak DiJohn served with Yukon gold potatoes with sauteed broccoli rabe and tomatoes ($28); chocolate strawberry Napoleon ($7) and the caramel turtle old fashioned specialty cocktail (Ballotin caramel whisky; Aztec chocolate bitters; splash of Coke and caramel drizzle; $6).

Kinton Ramen designs a special menu for it's Kintonlicious event


Kinton Ramen, 163 N. Sangamon and 1426 N. Milwaukee, is offering a special menu for its Kintonlicious event, running in conjunction with Chicago Restaurant Week January 24-February 9.

The three-course, prix-fixe menu (choice of pork, chicken or vegetarian ramen for the entrée, tartar gyoza, which is an appetizer of four deep fried pork dumplings with house-made garlic tartar sauce, and a choice of matcha or kurogoma ice cream for dessert) is $17.95.

3 Forks' smoke-infused cocktails


III Forks, 180 N. Field, has just unveiled two new "Up In Smoke" cocktails, offered now through the end of April. 

Guests can sample the bartender smoke-infused cocktails:  Smoked Cherry Negroni ( Hendrick’s Gin, Campari, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, cherrywood infused smoke; $12) and the Applewood Smoked Old Fashioned (1792 Small Batch Bourbon, Angostura bitters, simple syrup, fresh orange, black cherry, applewood infused smoke; $12).

The process is created by adding smoke to the glass and trapping it with the glass lid. Drinks are served with the glass lid still closed, which will be slowly lifted when served.

Cantina Laredo's color-changing cocktails


Cantina Laredo's, 508 N. State, color-changing cocktails, "magic margaritas,"  contains butterfly pea flower tea, which creates an eye-popping live visual as the tea  is a vivid blue when brews but goes through alter states when mixed with acidic lemon juice, transforming the beverage to  a bright magenta hue.
