Chef/Partner Stephen Dunne’s full menu offered, plus house-made desserts and other specials.

AJ Hudsons NYE Celebration


AJ Hudson's Public House, 3801 N. Ashland, gears up for NYE English and American-style with two celebrations, the first at 6 p.m. (CST) December 31 in honor of our friends across the pond as well as a traditional midnight celebration to ring in the new year.

Early partygoers will have an early Champagne toast and sing-a-long of Auld Lang Syne. Visitors can view the the British celebration via BBC live coverage.

Cantina Laredo taking accepting Christmas orders


Cantina Laredo, 508 N. State, is now accepting Christmas orders.

The holiday tamales to go include: beef (spiced shredded beef wrapped in corn masa served with chili sauce) and chicken (chicken simmered in a spiced verde sauce wrapped in corn masa with a tomatillo sauce) for $16.95 per dozen.

Here's what's up at Easy Bar, doc


Easy Bar, 1944 W. Division, turns into a Space Jam enclave during it's 13th Anniversary celebration "Space Jam Bar Mitzvah," beginning 5 p.m. December 13.

The event kicks off with a half-price off everything cocktail hour from 5-7 p.m. The cocktail of the hour, specially priced at $8, is the Monstars cocktail (Bulleit bourbon; averna and lavender bitters).

In addition to a salute to the Looney Tune characters and NBA legend Michael Jordan, Rabbi Roodimes will hold a short ceremony with Challah bread to welcome the bar into adulthood.

Onward hosts Jackson Family Estates Wines dinner


Onward Restaurant, 6580 N. Sheridan, is hosting  “Cellar Series” five-course sustainable wine dinner 6-9 p.m. December 12 featuring wines from the sustainable vineyards of Jackson Family Estates Wines; $65. 

A representative from Jackson Family Wines will lead guests through the dinner discussing the wine selections and paired dish. Guests will also learn about the vineyard's history.

Executive Patrick Russ creates a seasonal menu that includes: Spanish octopus, Rohan duck and a vanilla lychee buttermilk panna cotta dessert created by Executive Pastry Chef Karianne Soulsby. Tickets available here.

Prairie Grass Cafe salutes Green City Market co-founder and GCM's 20th anniversary Dec. 12


Sarah Stegner, co-owner/co-chef of Prairie Grass Cafe, 601 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook, celebrates the legacy of and birthday of Abby Mandel, a co-founder of Green City Market (1932-2018) as well as the 20th anniversary of Green City Market, December 12, by raising and donating funds for Green City Market initiatives.

Money raised will benefit the market’s The Edible Gardens. Stegner will give all donations directly to the garden. In addition a special beet and carrot birthday cake will be prepared in honor of Mandel's birthday with one hundred percent of the proceeds from December 12 benefitting the initiative.
 The Edible Garden, that children plant or harvest was created to help inner-city children understand where food originates.
