Tuscany on Taylor's National Pasta month salute


Tuscany Restaurant  on Taylor, 1014 W. Taylor  Street, features a chef’s pasta flight, October 1-31 (dinner only Monday-Thursday). 

Executive Chef Victorio Padilla's pasta flight features three signature pastas: penne (penne with prosciutto; mushrooms; green pea; Parmigiano cream sauce, paired with William Hill chardonnay); short rib ravioli (with brown butter Parmigiano sag, paired with DaVinci Chianti) and trofie al pesto (with garlic, evoo, cherry tomatoes, Buffalo mozzarella, paired with Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio); $22. The is optional for an additional $13.

Chicago Scots 18th Annual Kilted Classic


The Chicago Scots, the oldest non-profit organization in Illinois, hosts it's 18th Annual Kilted Classic Golf Tournament 11 a.m. October 3 at Cantigny Golf Course, 27W270 Mack Rd, Wheaton.

The golf and whisky tasting event, which features multiple golf competitions along with  Scottish themed challenges throughout the course, will offer an assortment of food and drinks.

In addition an auction and raffle will take place with proceeds benefitting Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care, which offers services that include: assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and respite staysTickets, registration and donations available here.

Periodic Table Dinner at the Pomontory


The Museum of Science and Industry is partner with The Promontory, 5311 S. Lake Shore, to host a science-themed dinner honoring the 150th anniversary of the periodic table beginning 5 p.m. October 10.

Guests will be feted to a three-course, prix fixe meal inspired by the elements. In addition museum curators will be on hand to showcase rare artifacts along with sharing the history of the periodic table, Reservations are being accepted now here.

Fulton Galley hosts inaugural Oktoberfest celebration


Fulton Galley, 1115 W. Fulton Market, hosts its first Octoberfest bash beginning 11 a.m. September 28.

All five Fulton Galley chefs will participate offering specialty dishes with a Germanic spin. Dishes include: Steingold’s brisket bratwurst sausage on a challah bun with mustard and kraut; Italianette’s German sausage pizza; Fairview’s Cuban schnitzel sandwich; Pink Salt’s Sai ua sausage and Taco Mucho’s seared beef hot dog with pickled jalapeƱos and spicy mustard. 

Spiteful Brewing and Hofbrauhaus will feature specialty beers for the occasion.

In addition there will be live music and other merriment. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Offshore Rooftop bar launches weekend a new fall menu


Offshore Rooftop Bar, located atop Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand, listed as the world's largest rooftop bar by The Guinness Book of World Records, celebrates its first fall season at the Pier with a new weekend brunch curated by Executive Chef Michael Shrader. 

Dishes include: eggs on eggs with steamed sushi rice, avocado, poached egg, smoked trout roe, togarshi and nori, $17; smoked cheddar poutine with French fries, black pepper gravy, a fried egg, bacon, and scallions, $15; chicken chilaquiles verde, topped with roasted poblano chiles, pickled red onions, and a lime crema, $15; and avocado toast with shaved Reggiano Parmesan, a poached egg, and heirloom tomatoes, $14. 

Brunch flatbreads are also available,and include a cheddar, egg & bacon, with hot sauce, scallions, and sour cream, $16 and prosciutto & asparagus, with arugula, confit shallot, and chili flakes, $15.  Sweet options include cinnamon rolls with a glazed frosting, $12; and dark chocolate fondue, with marshmallows and salty pretzels, $12. Must be 21 and over with valid identification.

The Ninth Annual BeerHoptacular returns September 28


The Ninth Annual BeerHoptacular, returns September 28, at the Vertiport Chicago, a 30,000 square foot helicopter hangar located at 1339 S. Wood. 

More than 100 craft beers from both local and national vendors and includes hoppy beers to ciders and meads, will be in attendance.

Vendors include: Dovetail; Goose Island; Guinness; Farmhouse Cider; Blue Nose Brewery; 21st AmIn addition an array of food trucks will be on hand. 

Festivities include: helicopter rides, a DJ spinning your favorite hits, a beer bicycle, and a live photobooth.

Early admission ($59) is 3-8 p.m. General admission ($49) is 4-8 p.m. Tickets.

State and Lake launches Oktoberfest


State and Lake Chicago Tavern,  201 N. State kicks off its Oktoberfest celebration with a German-inspired menu beginning 8 p.m. September 20 through October 8. 

Chef Nathan Sears menu will include: pumpkin Kaiserschmarrn (pork schnitzel and a sweet pumpkin German pancake seared in butter served with cream cheese frosting topped with frozen dulcey mousse and boozy currants); pork schnitzel with braised leeks and potatoes, marinated mushrooms, fennel, shaved pears and mustard seed oil as well as a house made aged cheddar soft pretzel with creamy apple mustard, Local Folks grainy mustard and Pleasant Ridge Reserve cheese. 

Guests can also enjoy authentic German draft beers such as Metropolitan Afterburner and and Great Central Festzelt, which guests have the option to drink out of a in a two liter boot ($37).

Eno Wine Room has extended its Pour Decisions drag brunch


ENO Wine Room, 505 N. Michigan, has extended its Pour Decisions Drag brunch series through the end of the year.

During the Sunday brunch guests will enjoy bottomless mimosas along with an entrƩe from Executive Chef Craig Couper's new brunch menu.

Hosted by Chicago’s Fox E. Kim, the weekly event features themed performances by Alex Kay and Mikki Miraj along with pop-in performances by several RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni. Upcoming themes include, "It’s Britney, Witch," "50 Shades of Gravy" and "Saint Nicki." Doors open at 12 p.m.  The drag shows run through 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online$45. Walk-ins welcome if room available.

Apple Fest returns to historic downtown Long Grove


The 28th Annual Long Grove Apple Fest take place September 20-22, 308 Old McHenry Rd., in historic downtown Long Grove.

Guests will be feted with apple-centric food and drinks that include: fresh apple cider donuts; green apple cotton candy, chocolate caramel apples, candy covered apples, apple wine, apple sangria, hard apple ciders, spiced apple lattes, granny apple popcorn, apple crisps, apple goat cheese dumplings, apple cheesecake, apple pie, cinnamon apple ice cream, apple sugar cookie, apple tempura and a variety of farm fresh picked apples from Frank’s Farm Orchard

Festivities also includes live music on two stages; a Kids zone, games and food-related events such as an apple pie-eating contest. Admission is $5, ages 12 and older; a three-day pass (available on line only) is $10. Adrian Corkill takes charge at III Forks


III Forks Prime Steakhouse, 180 N. Field, has appointed Adrian Corkill as the new executive chef/propietor.

A native of Denver, Colorado, Corkill, most recently was executive chef/proprietor of the Austin, TX-based III Forks operation. 'The chef's previous experience also includes: Brooks Steakhouse (Englewood, Colorado) and Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse (Denver, Colorado) along with having lead the culinary team at Cool River Cafe, located in Austin, Texas. He served as Executive Chef at Zed's Austin-TX operation.

Corkill  plans to make some menu changes that includes expanding the "bar bites" menu along with adding dishes with local flair and more side dishes.

This fall, Morton’s The Steakhouse, participating locations, his holding a football fan's dream contest, “Ultimate Tailgating Experience” giveaway. 

Customers must submit a photo or video of their most extravagant spread at a tailgate for a chance to win. First place winner receives four football tickets to any college or professional home game nationwide paired with a gourmet tailgate catered exclusively by Morton’s. 

The Ultimate Tailgating Experience menu includes choice of pulled pork sliders, filet mignon sandwiches or and steakhouse chili.

In addition Morton’s crowd-favorites such as blue cheese dip and chips, bacon deviled eggs, a cheese plate with crackers and Chinese chicken salad. Desserts include Morton’s Classic cheesecake and Key lime pie.

The Chicago Cubs hosts a HBCU football classic event


The Chicago Cubs in association with the 22nd Annual Chicago Football Classic, featuring Hampton University and Howard University, hosts HBCU Day at Wrigley Field Friday, September 13.
Events kick off at noon with pre-game kick as well as a post-game party, which includes a food buffet,  takes place 5-8 p.m. at Budwiser Brickhouse Tavern, 3647 N. Clark.
The Cubs vs. the Pirates at 3:05 p.m.  HBCU Day tickets start at $19. Tickets.
