Le Sud launches new spring menu

Executive chef Michael Woodhall of Le Sud Mediterranean Kitchen, 2301 W. Roscoe, launches a new spring menu today, available Wednesday through Sunday.

The restaurant is now open for indoor dining, and alfresco seating is offered on the spacious sidewalk cafe.

The menu is divided into small plates ($9-$16) and large plates ($15-$29). Small plate selections incorporate baby kale and manchego salad, grilled shrimp and piparra pepper, braised Spanish octopus, smoked ham and cheese croquette, fried artichoke hearts and more. 

Large plates include grilled Bavette steak "Txuleton," roasted Basque half chicken, honey glazed duck breast, grilled Sakura pork chop, salmon a la Riberena, wood grilled tri-blend burger, chitarra pasta, and pan seared scallops.

Savory side dishes ($5-$7) include: roasted fingerling potatoes, matchstick frites with aioli, white quinoa with red pepper and herbs, and mixed vegetables with breadcrumbs. 

Desserts include:  peaches and sabayon, creme brulee, chocolate torte, freshly baked chocolate chunk cookie, and sorbet of the day ($1.50-$7). 

Le Sud's spring cocktail collection includes: ($10-$12) features Layover in Spain (bulleit bourbon, px sherry, brandy, bitters), Magnolia Street (white blossom vodka, balsam, lemon, cucumber bitters), Petty Fraise (strawberry gin, earl grey simple syrup, lemon, mint), Pina Mule (blanco tequila, pineapple juice, ginger liqueur, lime juice, soda), French 75 (gin, lemon, simple syrup, sparkling wine) and Black Wave (bulleit bourbon, creme de cassis, amaro, lemon). Beer offerings include Three Floyds' Alpha King Ale, Two Brothers' Domaine DuPage French Country Ale, Lagunitas IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout by Left Hand Brewing, CO and Le Merle Saison by North Coast Brewing, CA ($7-$8).

In addition the restaurant has expanded wine program to 13 pours. venue' swine The expanded wine program's 13 glass pours highlight white, rose, red and sparkling selections from France, Italy and Spain ($9-$13). More than 30 bottled  wines, sourced from the Mediterranean region, have been added to the wine list: $36 to $60 with a reserve wine list featuring 19 selections.
