Avli Taverna honors the Greek tradition of Tsiknopempti

Avli Taverna, 1335 Wrightwood, celebrates the annual Greek tradition of Tsiknopempti, also known as "Barbeque Thursday," with a family-style dinner February 28. Two seating’s will be available: 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. ($60).

Tsiknopempti takes place on the Thursday during the week of Kreatini, when large amounts of meat are traditionally grilled before the fasting leading up to Easter. 

The traditional-style Greek dinner includes: Santorini-style tomato fritters (appetizer); a family-style grilled meat platter with Greek sausage, ouzo and cumin chicken skewers, lollipop lamb chops and gourounopoulo (rotisserie pork); bourani (tomato risotto side dish); kataifi ekmek (custard dessert) and three Kir-Yianni wines served with dinner.
