Pablo's Tiki Snack Shack now open in South Loop

Pablo's Tiki Snack Shop, 2537 S. Wabash, is now open for take-out and delivery in the South Loop. 

The eatery, which is strictly a—to go establishment, features Tiki burgers, Cuban sliders, coconut shrimp and chili-glazed wings are typical menu items. The establishment, a venture  of Pablo Suez, debuted as a floating kitchen in Chicago in 2017. Bringing the concept back as a grounded establishment Pablo hopes the its summer island theme can woo Chicagoans out of the winter woes. 

The organization also is ownership of the floating party vessel "TikiBoat" at Monroe Harbor, which can be rented in the summer. View menu. For more information or orders can be placed here

Final call to join in Prairie Grass Cafe's 2021 health awareness initiative

The final session of Prairie Grass Cafe , 601 N. Skokie Blvd., Northbrook, wellness initiative, 6 p.m. January 10 a.m. via Zoom. 

In conjunction with the healthy new year turnabout Prairie Grass Cafe will feature a special menu made of foods with healthy sustainable foods from local vendors that will include items such as beans, whole grains, green leafy vegetables, carrots, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, nuts and seeds. In addition PGC is featuring a special menu January 11: beet entree featuring local beets with tahini and pumpkin seeds; warm roasted chick peas and chick Pea Puree; cut raw vegetables; $20. 

Grilled chicken breast can be added for $6.50; a vegan pistachio-chocolate muffin for $9.

Winemaker Nicola Biscardo joins RPM Wine Director Richard Hanauer and Chef Christian Fantoni 7 p.m. January 12 for a four-course dinner spotlighting Biscardo's Amarone della Valpolicella, Marchesi Biscardo, 2013. 

The wine will be paired with RPM Italian dishes such as Roasted Squid with Tomato Brodo, Roasted Venison Chop with Amarone Jus and a Chocolate Caramel Tart. The live Zoom session is on Tuesday, January 12 at 7 p.m. The team will discus the wine pairing during the dinner; $155 per person, plus tax (gratuity not included) and includes a four-course menu plus one bottle of wine per each guest. Going, going...Deuce's Santa Baby pop up bar closes Jan. 6

For those who just cant get enough of the holiday season there's still time to to drop in the Santa Baby pop up at Deuce's Major League Bar, 3505 N. Clark St. (outdoor dining only).

The Festive holiday themed bar is still offering yuletide inspired large-format concoctions such as the Mega Yule Mule and Jingle juice.

Food inspirations include the Atomic yule log (three cheese sticks covered with a Flamin' Hot Cheetos crust and sriracha dust). Family's can drop by during daytime hours. Ages 21 and older only are allowed after 9 p.m.  The pop up closes down January 6. Masks required. Reservation available here.

Prairie Grass Cafe , 601 N. Skokie Blvd., Northbrook, chefs Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris kick off the 2021 with a wellness initiative, partnering with Elizabeth Kennedy of Life Coaching and Tania Hughes of Tania Hughes Wellness  for a virtual wellness 6 p.m. January 3 and January 10 a.m. via Zoom. 

Chef Stegner has created energizing, healthy meals while Kennedy and Hughes zone in on health with Kennedy discussions on wellness and setting goals that includes the incorporating healthy eating habits and the benefit of making use of sustainable foods. While Hughes discuss the immune system and how to create optimal physical health through modalities that includes: meditation, breathing technique and yoga.
