Prairie Grass Cafe gets in the spirt of St. Patrick's Day with specials March 15-17


Prairie Grass Cafe, 601 N. Skokie Blvd., Northbrook, serves up St. Patrick's Day special March 15-17 beginning with a Irish-inspired brunch of corned beef hash topped with a poached egg and sauteed potatoes with green Hollandaise sauce; $16.50.

Other specials include: a special dip made with sauerkraut, shredded corned beef; homemade Thousand Island dressing and Swiss cheese served in a crock with the toast crostini, available March 16 during lunch and dinner; $12.50. A traditional dinner of corned beef and cabbage with a slice of homemade Irish soda bread will be available March 17; $24.50.

In addition a special cocktail, "Irish Eyes are Smiling," made with Jameson; Baileys and local cream; $13, will be available.

Guests stopping in any of Last Call Tavern Group's seven locations from March 14-17 will be entered into a giveaway to win a free trip to Ireland (no purchase necessary). Each stop to a Last Call Tavern Group location will count as one entry, with the exception of Celtic Crown, which would count as three entries. There is no limit on how many times a guest can visit locations.

Replay's Shrek pop-up opens March 13


Replay Lincoln Park, 2833 N. Sheffield, transform into the Welcome To Me Swamp pop-up, featuring Shrek and friends including Princess Fiona; Donkey; Lord Farquaad; Puss in Boots and  March 13. 

The bar will feature custom artwork and iconic objects such as Shrek;'s swamp, Fiona's tower; onion carriage; mirror on the wall and Shek's outhouse.

In time for St. Patrick's Replay will host the Swamptastic St. Patrick's Day event that includes a breakfast buffet, green bear, mimosa and more; $25. Free arcade games will be available as well.

Mattie Williamson dinner and presentation @Glessner House


The talent of Mattie Williamson,  the cook for the Glessner family during the turn of the 20th century, is saluted during the  Mattie Williamson Dinner and Presentation 5:30 p.m. March 12 at the historical Glessner House, 1800 S. Prairie Ave.

The event features a six-course dinner created from Williamson's original recipes curated from recipes in Frances Glessner's dinner menu book. Space is limited to 30 guests. Reservations close 5 p.m. March 6. Tickets. Additional events saluting Mattie and other the house staff continues through the week. Sketchbook Brewing's round of March events


Sketchbook Brewing's lineup of March events kicks off with the 2020 Day & Night of  The Living Ales March 7, Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake. There will be two sessions are available 1-5 and 6-10 p.m.  Performances by Sima Cunninghan and the Lawrence Peters Ouffit; $15. Tickets.

The Bloodshot Records and Sketch Brewing collaborative Defiant Root Beer release party and concert is 7 p.m. March 9, Sketchbook Brewing, 821 Chicago Ave., Evanston; $15. Tickets.

Harbor launches Sunday-Thursday happy hour today


Harbor's, 1312 S. Wabash, new happy hour menu, which debuted February 24, is available beginning today 4-6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Drink specials include $5, house red, white and sparkling wines; $5 draft beers (all selections) and $6 Tom Collins and daiquiris.

Food deals include: $1.50 oysters, with a minimum purchase of three; $4 bites include: ceviche made with whitefish, grain and lavosh; lentil falafel with fresno romesco, pickle salad and toum; empanada stuffed with beef cheek; pickled onions and red hatch sauce; slider, dressed with cheddar, green chili aioli and pickles; and seasonal sausage links with frisee, pickled veggies and mustard.
