MAK Brings Back "The Donald" Entree

MAK Restaurant, 1924 W. Division, brings back "The Donald," created during the presidential campaign, as an Inauguration Day special.

The dish, (braised pork stir fried with cabbage, peppers, MAK hoisin sauce, served with a spicy slaw; $9), will be available all day January 20.

Ironside Bar & Galley, 546 N. Wells, kicks off  "Yacht Rock Wednesday," 7 p.m. January 11. During the initial launch DJ Major Taylor spins music from the '70s and '80s and three Goose Island Bourbon Stout 2016 tappings (Bourbon County Brand Stout Proprietor's, Bourbon County Brand Stout, Bourbon County Brand Barleywine). 

Food and bar specials include a selection of $5 drinks as well as half-price West and East Coast fresh shucked oysters (regularly priced $18 for six).

Devon Seafood on Board During Chicago Restaurant Week

Devon Seafood, 39 E. Chicago, joins in Chicago Restaurant Week (January 27-February 9), with two three-course prix fixe menus.

Lunch ($22), available 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., starts with a choice of  Devon house salad; Caesar salad or Creole gumbo. Main course selection is a choice of prosciutto mozzarella burger; salmon panzanella salad; blackened chicken penne pasta or pretzel-crusted trout. Dessert choices are triple chocolate mousse cake, vanilla bean creme brulee; mixed berries or butterscotch tart.

Dinner ($33; $44), available 4 p.m. to closing, begins with Devon house salad; Caesar salad or Creole gumbo or Maine lobster bisque (pictured). Dessert choices are triple chocolate mousse cake, vanilla bean creme brulee; carrot cake or butterscotch tart.

Main course selections for the $33 option are: jumbo crab cakes, shellfish bouillabaise, Joyce Farms half chicken, Wagyu steak and frites or maple plank salmon.

Main course selections for the $44 option are: 8oz cold water lobster tail; char crusted Ahi tuna; 8-oz center cut filet or seafood mixed grill. Tax and gratuity are not included in price. Reservations can be made at 312-440-8660.

Gene & Georgetti is among the participants of Chicago Restaurant Week taking place January 27-February 9. The legendary steak  house is offering a prix fixe lunch ($22) and dinner ($44).

Lunch includes choice of BLT or Garbage salad or soup of the day. Choice of prime rib sandwich with mash potatoes; salmon limon with sauteed broccoli or chicken panzanella with creamed spinach. Dessrt is choice of tiramisu, spumoni or cheesecake with berry compote.

Here's a thought to warm up to National Hot Pastrami Day at Jerry's is January 14 and the sandwich shop, in addition to its popular Manny S (cider slaw, sliced jalapeño, Swiss, Russian dressing, caraway-multigrain $14), will offer two special sandwiches, available at both its Lincoln Square (11 a.m. to 11 p.m.) and Andersonville (11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.) restaurants.  Raised, An Urban Rooftop Bar, 1 W. Wacker Drive, launches the Chef’s Table dinner series 5:30 p.m. January 19, kicking off with a five course scotch and pig pairing; $100. Guests will be greeted during the cocktail reception with the Pig's Tail (Dalmore 12-year scotch, Gonzales Byass Jerez-Xeres-Sherry Oloroso Dulce Solera, allspice, lemon, sugar, and nutmeg).

Highlights of the five-course dinner includes: Sherry Braised Endive made with date jus, spiced croutons, crispy pig’s ears, and lemon-thyme oil paired with Dalmore 12-year-old scotch; pork belly chowder (braised leeks, turnip, and oyster cream) paired with Dalmore 15-year-old scotch; lobster with lardo roasted carrots, citrus butter, black tea sabayon, and carrot puree; vanilla braised pork cheek made with salt baked celery root, coffee essence, and black truffle paired with Dalmore 18-year-old scotch. The final course is candied house cured ham made with white chocolate mousee, crispy rice, passion fruit caramel, and marigold paired with  Dalmore King Alexander III. Purchase tickets.

Wine specialist Jessica Marshall-Bruckner leads guests through the "Sip Six Selections from California" sampling, 5-7 p.m. January 4, III Forks Prime Steakhouse, 180 N. Field: $20.
