Geja's "America the Beautiful" fall wine festival is underway

Geja's Cafe, 340 W. Armitage Ave., during the upcoming months guests will be feted with an array of wines across America perfect, pairings for the restaurant's famously romantic fondue entrees, during the restaurant's three-month wine festival, in celebration of the fall season, America the Beautiful. 

Eleven wines representing states from the west coast to the east coast will be featured. Some of selections listed below. The event runs through November 30.  Call: 773-281-9101.

Dine Out on Sheffield; Dine Out on Broadway take place September 11-13


Sheffield Ave. is this week Dine Out destination. Restaurants along the avenue will serve up neighborhood fare and friendship noon to 10 p.m. September 11-12; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. September 13. Click here to see participating venues.

The Goddess and Grocer's Rosh Hashanah dinner packages available for order

The Goddess and Grocer is offering dinner packages and a la carte meal options for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Classic, vegetarian, and vegan dinner packages are $35 per person; Break the Fast package: $21.50 per person.
Items such as soups, appetizer, salads, sides, desserts and additional entrees can be ordered a la carte.
Rosh Hashanah orders must be placed by noon September 15 and are available for pickup September 18-20. Yom Kippur orders must be placed by noon September 24 and will be available for pickup September 27-28. Two-dinner minimum order imposed. Reclaimed hosts Elk Cove wine tasting event


Reclaimed Bar and Restaurant, 3655 N. Western Ave., which recently partnered with Scoperta, is hosting an Elk Cove Vintage wine event 6:30 p.m. September 17 on the venues patio; $42.

Prairie Grass Cafe offers Rosh Hashanah dinner packages


Prairie Grass Cafe, 601 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook, takes the work out of your Rosh Hashanah holiday planning.

Rosh Hashanah items include: chicken noodle soup (quart), $15; chopped chicken liver with grated farm egg (half pint), $8
.

Dinner package for two ($88) starts with honey citrus marinated beet salad. Followed by a choice of one of the following entrees: slow-braised brisket with roasted spaghetti squash and sauteéd leeks; Lake Superior whitefish and wild rice with pecans and roasted apple wedges and crunch apple slaw or, half boneless chicken and wild rice with pecans and honey-glazed carrots with raisins and parsley (pictured).  Dessert is apple honey crumble with toasted oats and pecans.

Kit Kat Lounge Labor Day brunch and dinner

Offshore to remain open after Navy Pier closes September 8


Offshore, located atop Navy Pier, 1000 E. Grand, will remain open after the closing of Navy Pier September 8.  Hours of operation will be: noon to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The venue will seat no more than six to a table. In addition special events will take place in September including: sunset paint and sips parties with Pinot's Palettte (September 8; 17 and 30) $62; fitness yoga and mimosa (September 13; 27) pop ups with Pure Barre (12; 19; 26), $25 per class. New brew release today and other news


Buffalo Creek Brewing, 360 Historical Lane,  Long Grove, releases handmade beer and hard seltzers this month beginning with Beau Fleu an old school English Style Double IPA balanced with notes of citrus (September 5); Black Hoof Appletini, a green apple infused hard seltzer (September 19).

Cherry Razz, strong amber ale with fruit notes comes out later in the month. Mike will co-host a virtual party from the tap room via zoom with his college days hangout Brown's Taproom & Brewery in Troy, NY.

Geja's grilling kits for Labor Day


Geja's Café, 340 W. Armitage is offering kabob grilling kits to go for your Labor day cooking convenience.

Kits, which serve four, includes eight kabobs (choice of beef tenderloin, chicken breast, shrimp or veggie); 2-lb pan of fingerling potatoes; cheese and chocolate fondue with dippers; fruit salad, choice of three Geja's dipping sauces and Geja's special seasoning; $80. The grill kit is also available in a scaled-down version for two; $40.
