National S'mores Day honors a Girl Scouts tradition

For the occasion Coolhaus is offering Campfire S'mores (Tahitian vanilla bean, graham cracker cookie butter marshmallow swirl and dark chocolate pieces), as a specialty item honoring the campfire treat.
According the treat's history the Girl Scouts are credited with popularizing the campfire staple with the first written recipe of the popular camping novelty published in Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts in 1927. The recipe was referred to as "some mores."

Les Dame d'Escoffier Chicago Chapter and Prairie Grass Cafe joined by Jean Nolan of Middlefork Farms partner for a special virtual dinner and tour of Middlefork 3 p.m. August 9.
During the class Chef Sarah Stegner shares way to prepare wild Alaskan cod with fresh ingredients from Middlefork Farms.
For the occasion Stegner has put together the Harvest Cooking Kit for Two and demonstrates how to prepare crispy bread crumb-crusted wild Alaskan cod with warm herb-pecan pesto and organic vegetable salad. Orders can be placed through August 6 for pickup August 8. Must register for cooking class and tour invitation. Call 847-205-4433.

Billy Goat Tavern & Grill's 100 per cent pure beef burger patties are now available at Walmart's throughout Illinois and some neighboring states.
The retailer joins a list of other outlets carrying the product including: Mariano's, Pete's Fresh Market, Caputo's Fresh Markets and Tony's Fresh markets.
Walmart will carry a 2-pound box of 10 and 2-pound box of 6 patties of variant weights.
