New Restaurant Concept

Take a number. Oriole, owned and operated by Chefs Noah and Cara Sandoval and Genie Kwon, is slated to open in the West Loop in winter. The intimate (28-seat) eatery, will feature 15-18 course tasting menu designed around wine and drink pairings. Seafood-inspired items, among Noah Sandoval's favorites, will be among highlights. Trotter Project Event

The Trotter Project hosts the Third Annual Playing it Forward Ping Pong Ball Tournament 5:30-10 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago, 230 N. Michigan. Food and drinks provided by Chuck's: A Simon Kerry Kitchen and Brown's Lounge.

Proceeds benefit the Ann & Robert Lurie Children's Hospital's transportation expenses for families with critically ill children.

A VIP chef's reception, featuring the talent of Bill Kim (Urban Belly; bellyQ and Belly Shack); Richie Farina (formerly of Moto); Phillip Foss (El Ideas) and Art Smith (Table 52) starts at 4:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from the VIP event will be shared with the Trotter Project and the Jackson Chance Foundation. Have you ever wondered how many ways bacon can be served? If the answer is yes, then a visit to the Bacon and Beer Classic is this weekend's ticket to hog heaven.

The event, which made its debut in 2014 in various cities, adds a Chicago stop to its sophomore outing, offering an array of bacon-inspired creations from Chicago restaurants in two sessions 1-4 p.m. (brunch) and 7-10 p.m. (evening) Oct. 10, Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus.

State, introduced two fall cocktails infused with hatch chilies: Citrus Hatch Margarita (Avión Silver Tequila infused with Hatch chile pepper and grapefruit, with fresh lime juice, agave nectar and Hatch chile garnish) and Strawberry Hatch Margarita (Avión Silver Tequila infused with Hatch chile pepper and strawberries, with fresh lime juice, agave nectar, squeeze of orange and Hatch chile garnish), $12 each.
