Guests are invited to enter their dog and themselves in the Cody's Dog Olympics featuring a lineup of events that includes: Treat Toss, Pet Tricks and Hurdles. Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers including $150 for Gold, $100 for Silver and $50 for Bronze. 

Guests also can drink their way around the world Cody’s style with a special Olympic Handshake Drink Menu available through August 11. The Second Annual Bier Rock Fest takes place Aug 2-3, BCB’s biergarten.The event, celebration in celebration of the venues second rock concert, will again transform into music festival oasis, and BCB has upped it's game for the highly anticipated event

This year guests will be feted to an expanded lineup while enjoying the venue's festive mood and sampling of an array of hand-crafted beers, including a special release, The Mash Pit. On addition there will be games and other activities.

The event, which benefits the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, a charity organization dedicated to unlocking educational opportunities for talented Chicago-area students facing financial need, is free tp attend.

Food trucks will also be on the grounds. The event is free to the public to enter. Hours are 4-11 p.m August 2; -11 p.m. August 3. If you miss this round. Mark your calendar for the fall festival dates, October 4-6.

Des Plaines, a community fireworks takes place on June 30 at Oakton College. Gates open at 7 p.m.,  fireworks begin around 9:15 p.m. The Independence Day parade steps off on July 4 at Center Street and Wicke Ave. To see the full parade route, visit www.desplaines.com.

Evanston, celebration includes a parade, games, a Fun Run, fireworks and more. The parade is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., running east on Central Street from Central Park Avenue to Ashland Avenue. Fireworks can be viewed at Dawes Park starting at 9:30 p.m.
