Getaway opens with round of interesting drinks

If crafted cocktails are what you desire.... here's a round not to miss.

The Getaway, 4530 Lincoln Ave, which features a seasonal rotation of 12 cocktails along with a variety of local and international beers, opens April 13. 

A sample of what's to come on the maiden round of a rotating cocktail menu from Gianna Peña (General Manager), Sarah Crossley (Operations Manager), and Janet Tonyan (bartender) includes:

Smoke ‘em if You Got ‘em (rye whiskey, Cynar liqueur, Benedictine herbal liqueur, served in a chilled glass with a spritz of Laphroaig)

Cocorococonut (vodka, lemongrass sake, lychee liqueur, coconut syrup and lemon juice)

The Getaway (rum, coconut liqueur, pineapple run, apricot liqueur, lime juice, pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine served in a pineapple glass with a cocktail umbrella, orange slice, and a Luxardo cherry)

Dining Out for Life happy hour @Bar Roma

Bar Roma, 5001 N. clark St. is hosting a special happy hour menu for charity 4-6 p.m. April 25. During the event 50 per cent of all happy hour sales will benefit TPAN's Dining Out For Life campaign.

Special include: $9 carafes of wine, a $10 cocktail of the day, along with select small plates crafted by Chef Fred Ramos ($7-$12). 

Dining Out For Life Chicago ensures that people in Chicago affected by HIV can access essential services. On April 25, a percentage of your bill from participating restaurants will be donated to TPAN to support programs such as HIV testing and an LGBTQIA+ youth drop-in center. TPAN is one the nation’s leading HIV care providers, serving more than 1,500 Chicagoans living with HIV and thousands more who are affected by this disease.
