Mercadito announces two limited-time cocktails and one summer-long libation


Mercadito, 108 W. Kinzie St.,  summer-inspired mezcal and tequila-based cocktails includem available through July16 onnly, include: Abasolo Smash (Abasolo corn whisky, lemon, ginger and mint and the La Banda (Hendricks gin, lemon, lavender and aperol).

In addition the Amiga Sandia (Casamigos Blanco; fresh watermelon; lime and basil) will be available through summer. The cocktails are $14.50 each.

Prairie Grass specials for the week


Prairie Grass Kitchen's, 601 Skokie Blvd. Northbrook, weekly specials include:

Monday: sauteed American red snapper, forbidden black rice; Mighty Vine tomato coulis and avocado-cucumber-tomato relish, $34; roast beef sandwich dinner package for two (sliced roast beef on baguettes, stewed spicy peppers, dipping sauce, fried onion rings and blueberry pie, $64.

Tuesday: sea scallop dinner package for two (seared sea scallops, potato and rutabaga puree; caper-tomato-parsley brown butter sauce; large arugula salad with mint, basil and balsamic dress. dessert is raspberry white layer cake; $87. 

A vegetarian option of grilled vegetables skewers of portobello mushrooms, summer squash, peppers and Knob onions; local beans and Swiss chard and baked bread crumb crusted Might Vine tomatoes; $18.

Wednesday: slow braised brisket dinner for two (slow braised all natural Cedar River beef brisket, garlic broccoli, crispy Kennebec potatoes with spicy aioli; large salad of mixed Adams Acres delicate greens, almonds with raspberry vinaigrette. Dessert: pint of raspberries with vanilla ice cream swirl with raspberry sauce; $70.

A second option is a crispy breaded shrimp wedge salad, Might Vine tomatoes, red onions, bacon avocado and Thousand Island dressing; $36. 

Thursday: roasted chicken dinner for two with whole roasted chicken, bread pudding with garlic, poblanos and herbs; large greens and wild things salad with purslane, mint and day lilies. Dessert is chocolate chip cookies; $65.

For an additional cost a  paired wine or cocktail selection is suggested for daily specials.

3Forks initiates buy a burger give a burger Mondays benefitting first responders


III Forks Prime Steakhouse, 180 N. Field Blvd., invites dining guests to participate in their "buy a burger, give a burger" program going on every Monday in July.

With each certified Angus beef burger (4-year aged cheddar and lemon aïoli, served with housemade chips ($18)) purchase by a guest, III Forks will donate a burger to a local first responder.

The burger is available in the restaurant's dining room, on the rooftop and curbside pick-up or delivery.

Chicago bars and restaurants serving alcohol must close by midnight


Chicago area bars, as well as restaurants selling alcoholic drinks, as  of July 10, in accordance with new COVID-19 mandates, must close before midnight. 

In addition the last alcoholic beverage must be sold by 11 p.m.

Aboyer opens it doors


Aboyer, 64 Green Bay Rd., Winnetka, has reopened for indoor service. The restaurant, part of chef Michael Lachowicz's George Trois Group, offers indoor dining 5-10 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Patio hours are remain 5-10 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.

AIRE rooftop now open


AIRE, 100 W. Monroe, opened July 7. Guests can look forward to a summer season of hand-crafted cocktails, local craft beers and shareable plates while taking in Chicago's scenic views from its rooftop perch on the 24th floor of the Hyatt Centre The Loop Chicago.

One of the city's hottest rooftop spots AIRE, which also features a unique attraction—a 3,800 square-ft. mural designed by Swiss artist Onur—is a definite summer destination to check out. Guests dining in the evening will get a different perspective of the artwork as it is flooded in blacklight.

Wells St. food hall opens today


Wells St. Food Hall, 205 W. Wacker Dr., opens today in time to celebrate National Chicken Month.

Hours are: Mondays- Fridays | Breakfast is served from 7am - 2pm from Firecakes; Lunch is served from 11am - 3pm from Fry the Coop and Tabo Sushi; Cocktails are available from Grand Central Bar from 12pm - 7pm.
City of Chicago health guidelines are in place for guests and employees. All guest must wear a mask and keep within six feet distance. Decals are placed throughout the area marking six feet placement.

Wicker Park Farmers Market, 1425 N. Damen Ave., opens 8 a.m. July 5 for its 20th season with guidelines for COVID-19 in place. Restrictions include a maximum of 50 people in the market at one time.

Buzzed Bull Creamery opens in Wicker Park today


Buzzed Bull Creamery's first Chicago location, 1948 W. North Ave., is set to open July 1.

The newcomer to Wicker Park will offer a variety of a variety of ice cream combinations, liquid nitrogen infused milkshakes (enhances creamy texture) and coffees.

But there's another element to attract ages 21 and over—alcohol infused frozen treats and coffee beverages. Offering a variety of options in both ice cream and milkshake flavors that include: honey pecan (honey ice cream or milkshake with pecans, whipped cream); death by chocolate (chocolate ice cream or milkshake with brownie bites, chocolate chips topped with chocolate sauce); tiger stripes (chocolate/peanut butter ice cream or milkshakes with peanut butter cups, topped with peanut butter sauce) and Dreamsicle (orange cake batter ice cream or milkshake, waffle cone pieces and whipped cream).
