Taste of Chicago opens today

Taste of Chicago, celebrating its 39th year, kicks off 11 a.m. July 10 in Grant Park. The largest food festival, the Taste will feature more than 82 local vendors. Cooking demonstrations take place daily by Buckingham Fountain.
In addition live music, including performances takes place daily. Performances at Petrillo Music Shell include: Courtney Bennett (July 10); Bomba Estereo and Cultura Profetica (July 11); De La Soul with Taylor Bennett (July 12); The Stumbellas with lovelytheband and joywave (July 13) and Inida.Arie with Meshell Ndegeocello and Bilal (July). Shows July 10-12 begin at 5:30 p.m; July 13-14 shows begin at 4:30 p.m.
Admission is free, must purchase food and drink tickets. Some concerts are free with admission. The taste continues daily through July 14. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 10-12; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 13-14. More details.

Bistronomic salutes Bastille Day

Bistronomic, 840 N. Wabash, hosts a Bastille Day special July 12-14.
For the occasion Chef Martial has created a three-course dinner ($39) and burger deals priced at 17.89 reflective of the year of the historic event.
The three course meal consist of ahi tuna Nicoise salad with avocado wedges, hard boiled eggs, fennel shavings, Nicoise olives, fingerling potatoes and a lemon vinaigrette/
The Le French burger with Angus beef, housemade country pate, swiss cheese and cognac sauce; and Steak Frites with flat iron steak, roasted garlic purée and hand cut pomme frites. The burger will be available during lunch July 11-12 and brunch July 13-14 the restaurant will feature it's Le French Burger for $17.89.
In addition, the PAWS Treat Yourself restaurant fundraiser begins July 12 with a $1 from every Le French Burger sold through June 28 benefitting PAWS Chicago.

Casati's American salute

Casati’s, 444 W. Fullerton, the family owned, modern Italian restaurant home to the “healthiest pizza in Chicago” opens at 11 a.m. and features a special 4th of July designed Pinsa-style pizza topped with mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce and pepperoni, designed in the shape of the American flag; $18).

Staytion Market & Bar, 1 W. Wacker, kicks off July mixology classes with a bang.
Mixologist Kevin Fahey kicks off the monthly sessions with a 4th of July salute—the popping Boba-infused cocktail crafted with a local whiskey, $14.
All classes take place 5-7 p.m. on Thursday. The class is $14 (cost of the cocktail).

The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant, 1401 S. Michigan, has launched Pinot on the Patio, a weekly event highlighting Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Blanc; $7 a glass.
