The Fulton Market Harvest Fest takes place September 14-16 on Fulton Market between Peoria and Halsted streets.

Festivities include chef demos; chef book signings that include Fabio, Rick Bayless, Ming Tsai and Stephanie Izard; wide selection of craft beers; live music and kids alley. And special ticketed dinners. View all events.

Hours are 5-10 p.m. September 14; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. September 15; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. September 16.

Carnivale Restaurant, 702 W. Fulton, hosts Carnivale University: Rum-tastic Mixology class featuring Mount Gay rum, 6-8 p.m. September 19. 

Guests will enjoy a fun, interactive class that provides an opportunity to learn about the spirit while mixing three rum-based cocktails DIY style in a class lead by a master mixologist from Mount Gay; $40, includes lite bites included. Tickets.

Speed Rack hosts cocktail competition to benefit breast cancer research

Speed Rack, an all-female speed bartending competition that raises money for breast cancer research charities holds a mini competition 8-10 p.m. September 14. Speed Rack co-founders and renowned leaders in the spirits industry, Ivy Mix and Lynnette Marrero, spearheads the event, which takes place during the Fulton Market Harvest Fest (stages are at Peoria Fulton).

Participants include: Chicago-based writers and influencers making it to the final heat will be judged by Chef Sarah Gruenberg (Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio), Chef Stephanie Izard (Girl & the Goat),and Chicago Tribune restaurant critic, Phil Vettel. The Fulton Market Harvest is September 14-16.

Summer's End Gourmet Food Truck fest, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. September 15 Guarantee Field, 333 W. 35th Street.

The event will feature up to 15 food trucks, beer and refreshments, outdoor games and entertainment, beer and refreshments. 

This event is free but an admission ticket is required. Guest can secure early access with the purchase of a $5 early admission ticket.

Cantina Laredo Casa Dragones tequila dinner

Cantina Laredo, 508 N. State, hosts a Casa Dragones tequila dinner, 7 p.m. September 22. Special guest Bertha Gonzales Nieve, revered as the first woman Maestra Tequilera, will be on hand to discuss the tequila brand during a four-course dinner prepared by Executive Chef Damon Workman.

Workman's selections include: ahi tuna ceviche, cantina salad with chipotle vinaigrette, choice of entree (pork tenderloin; lemon shrimp) and ancho chocolate cheesecake. Ice cream truck makes treks across country and permanent pit stop at Target stores

The Museum of Ice Cream pop-up style dessert truck is making its way across country offering free samples of its gourmet ice cream flavors that include: Sprinkle Pool (vanilla ice cream with candy rainbow sparkles); Parfait (vanilla ice cream with crumbled iced animal cookies, frosted cupcake bites, fizzy cotton candies and rainbow sparkles); Chocolate Crush (chocolate ice cream with milk chocolate flakes); Vanillionaire (vanilla ice cream with wafer cookies); Nana Banana (banana ice cream with salted caramel and almond butter swirl) Cherrylicious (Maraschino cherry ice cream with sugar cookie bites) and Churro Churro (cinnamon ice cream with churro bites).

Lebowski Fest Chicago salutes the iconic movie the "The Big Lebowski," starring Jeff Bridges with a 20th anniversary weekend of fun September 14-15.

The weekend kicks off with a movie party 6:30 p.m. September 14, Lincoln Park Zoo, 2200 N. Cannon. In addition a bowling party featuring a trivia and costume contest takes place September 15, Diversey River Bowl, 2211 W. Diversey (currently sold out).

City Winery's River Domes return

City Winery at the Riverwalk, 11 W. River Walk South, quell's the chill in the fall air with the return of its heated domes, available October 10-December 16.  Domes are equipped with Bluetooth speakers, heaters and professionally selected furniture. The cost is $85, for two and a half hours and includes $60 food and and beverage minimum. City Winery will begin accepting River Dome reservations in September.

Castaways closes out the summer with a weekend of events

Castaways, at North Avenue Beach 1603 N. Lake Shore, wraps up the summer with a weekend-long long beach party beginning 6 p.m. September 1. 

The North Avenue Beach spot will feature live entertainment by DJ's from The DJ Firm from 1-7 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Additional entertainment from DJ KO, DJ Jamal Smallz and DJ Nesha Vibe will be featured 6-11 p.m. September 1.

The festivities continue 9 a.m. September 2 with Castaways' "Yoga on the Boat" with Yoga on the Beach Chicago. Admission is $20 per person and includes a complimentary mimosa or fresh-pressed juice prepared by Chicago Health Foods after class along with a refreshments table with a fruit platter and some of Chicago's best donuts.
