Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, 1 W. Upper Wacker, celebrates National Root beer Day (August 6) the hotel partners with Goose Island and Do-Rite donuts for a week of limited specials featuring soda and donut pairings including a root beer selection. Proceeds from the sales will benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. 

In the hotel will feature an "adult only" version (made with local spirits and frozen liquid nitrogen; $11), available from 4-6 p.m. August 6 and August 9.

Cantina Laredo new specialty drinks

Cantina Laredo, 508 N. State, launched the Hacienda to Cantina drinks featuring Herradura Reposada tequila.

The drinks, available through October 1, include the Cantina Reposado 'Rita (Herradura Reposado, aperol, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice and agave nectar; $12) and a 1.5-ounce snifter of Herradura Reposado; $9.25)

Weber's Grilling classes are now in session

Weber Grill Academy, 1010 N. Meacham Road, is offering grilling classes through mid November. Most classes will be  2 hours sessions taking place 8-12 days a month through mid-November. 

Corporate chef Matt McCormick and Grilling Academy chef Klaus Lotter lead the hands-on classes that will include: smoking, tailgating and Thanksgiving grilling. Along with basics such as grilling steaks, burgers, sides and desserts. 

Classes will be conducted on both gas and electric grills demonstrated on the company's popular Summit, Genesis and Spirit series. And of course their popular line of kettle grills. Space is limited and reservations required. The next available class is Surf n' Turf 6 p.m. August 11. Classes.

The Weber's Lombard,  location will feature a Ladies Night session (6:30 p.m. September 14) and Tailgating (9:30 a.m. October 6).

Fifth Annual Rogers Pork event

The 5th Annual Rogers Pork event takes place noon to 9 p.m. August 4 in Jarvis Square (along Jarvis from Greenwood to Ashland).

Food vendors include: Amazing Aaron; R Public House; RIB1.com BBQ Truck and Three legged Taco.

New to the event this year is adding a new “VIP Section” this year where you can experience Rogers Pork in style! The H2Vino VIP Tents offer comfortable reserved seating near each stage and your own bartender pouring cava and rosé! 

In addition live music will be provided on two stages. View lineups. 

Admission is free. VIP tickets are $20 and include a glass of rosé. Tickets. Proceeds from the event benefit A Just Harvest, an anti-hungry organization for all Chicago.
