It's the last day of National Sandwich Month and the last offering.

A good corned beef sandwich is hard to find, that old-fashion deli-style sandwich, no frills just the real deal (mounds of meat with Swiss cheese, mustard on rye served with house made chips), which can be found at The Corned Beef  Factory, 1009 W. Lake. There is no sitting down and only five sandwiches on the menu: the namesake; Reuben; pastrami; Italian beef and a hotdog, chips and drink. (312) 666-2535.

The Chicago Diner, 3411 N. Halsted, gets thumbs up from PETA for its vegan fare, rating it one of the favorite vegan restaurants outside of Hollywood and New York where celebs like to dine, noting Ellen Degeneres, Joan Jett and Lady Gaga among others have been spotted at the diner. Offerings include the Radical Reuben (corned beef seitan, grilled onions, sauerkraut, vegan Thousand Island dressing, Swiss cheese on marble rye).
